Stefan Sommerhalder aka Erhalder is the head behind Chip Stress. He launched the label in 2020 with a simple idea: to release electro records built on classic beats, oldschool sounds and modern production, without sanding off the rough edges.

As a former drummer, he still tends to start with the rhythm. For him, it is not about complexity or density, but about finding the right balance between simplicity, pressure and efficiency — especially if a track is supposed to work on a dancefloor.

By day, he works as a post-production engineer. At night, he makes machine music from Basel. Some habits are harder to quit than others.
